Guanahatabey was a language once spoken by a tribe or group of tribes in Cuba. It was not the dominate language of the island. It died off with in the 16th century when the Spanish arrived. There is some evidence that a few names of places in Cuba are derived the the Guanahataby language. So, traces of the language may still exist.
